BANTAM Soldier worn power system has taken out the highest honour at the Land Defence Australia Ltd. SME Innovation Award 2014 showcase event at Land Forces 2014.

Tectonica’s Managing Director, David Levy was presented with the $10,000 prize at the Future Land Forces Conference Dinner on Wednesday.

“Tectonica strives to develop innovative solutions to advance Defence capability and this recognition confirms that we are achieving that goal. The support of DSTO and CDG has been instrumental in the development of BANTAM, and we are proud that this concept is not only viable but ready to be put into operation and ease the burden faced by our soldiers,” remarked Levy.

Both of Tectonica’s nominated products were shortlisted, with STATIX hand-held battery tester also making the list of 4 SME Innovation Awards finalists. BANTAM takes out the prize for the innovation awards, cementing Tectonica’s reputation as an innovative Defence focussed SME.

The BANTAM system distributes power from a central source. Meeting the needs of the modern soldier, BANTAM reduces the bulk and weight carried, and gives confidence in power and equipment to dismounted soldiers. Developed to its current standard following a Capability and Technology Demonstrator through DSTO, BANTAM uses Tectonica-patented technology to change the way that soldier’s manage their power.
